2008 AGRICULTURAL TOURS

The San Joaquin Valley is widely recognized as the richest, most diverse agricultural area in the world, with more than 250 agriculture commodities produced in the heart of California. Tulare County is the pulse of agricultural production in California and is one of the top agricultural producing counties in the United States. Approximately one-half of all agricultural production in California occurs in the southern San Joaquin Valley, within a 100-mile radius of Tulare, the home of the world’s largest agricultural exposition, World Ag Expo.

The 41st Annual World Ag Expo will offer special agricultural tours:
Tuesday, February 12, 2008; Wednesday, February 13, 2008; and Thursday, February 14, 2008.

Reservations for tours will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Please register ectronically for these tours at www.worldagexpo.com. Limited spaces are available for each tour, each day. All tours leave from Heritage Complex.
Last minute reservations may be made in front of the Heritage Complex during World Ag Expo, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Space availability during World Ag Expo is not a guarantee.
NO CAMERAS OR VIDEOS ALLOWED ON ANY TOUR SITES. NO REFUNDS!

Tours will be offered each day, four hours long, at a cost of $20 per person, per tour. 

The following tours are available Tuesday or Thursday:

Dairy Tour Tues. #1 and Thurs. #6

Elkhorn Dairy - Visalia, CA

-Featuring a carousel barn responsible for milking 3500 cows 3X a day.

Fletcher Dairy - Tulare, California

-Featuring management practices on feeding and nutrition

Citrus Tour Tues. #2 and Thurs. #7
( 10am-2pm
)

Lindsay, California

-Tour of a packing shed operation and orange harvesting


CCPI, Inc. – Lindsay, California

-Juicing facility

Dairy Tour #3
(10am-2pm)

Organic Pastures Dairy – Kerman, CA

-Featuring production of organic cheeses, milk and butter

Vegetable Farm Tour #4 (10am-2pm)
Vasto Valley Farms – Huron, CA

-Tour vegetable farm which grows lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, and cotton

-Tour transplant operation and green houses

Alternate Energy Tour #5 (10am-3pm)
Phoenix Bio-Industries, LLC – Goshen, CA

-Tour of  an ethanol bio-fuel plant

-Paramount Farms – Lost Hills, CA

-Visit a 1.1 megawatt solar energy system, spanning 8 acres.

-One of the largest single-site, privately owned solar energy systems in the United States
